Description

Students may register in a maximum of three courses per term. Registering in more than three courses will result in full-time tuition fees being applied.

LDS 1202 Introduction to Learning Disabilities Credits: 4

In this course, students will learn about the history and current definition of, 'learning disability' and explore the many types and facets of learning disabilities, and their impact on social, emotional, and academic life. Students will have the opportunity to expand their current understandings of assessments and how psycho-educational reports are used to create learning plans for academic settings. Students will reflect on the narrative accounts of students and adults living with learning disabilities, and will use these stories of experience to reflect upon and challenge personal views. Legal foundations and professional standards as they pertain to learning disabilities will also be explored.
