Catherine Jaftha was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa and spent about two decades in Toronto before relocating to Northern Ontario. The northern terrain was the impetus that steered her work towards landscape painting. She finds it grounding and inspiring to observe the cycles of nature, its gentleness as well as its ferocity, and aspires to capture those characteristics in her work. Catherine received her BFA from Nipissing University and works primarily in oil and watercolour.
