Are you interested in contributing to a more sustainable world while enhancing a sense of purpose? This session is inspired by the “butterfly effect” – the idea that small intentional actions can contribute to significant change and the principle of “thinking globally and acting locally”. Participants will explore how small everyday actions through lifestyle choices, consumer habits and community engagement, can create meaningful positive change for communities, ecosystems and even global challenges. Come for the inspiration and leave with a commitment for positive action.

Time: 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Facilitator: James Burke MES., MCE., CTDP

James is an interdisciplinary educator and facilitator whose work has focused on community planning, sustainable development and ethical leadership. He holds graduate degrees in both environmental studies and education and teaches courses at Cambrian College and Laurentian University in sustainability, corporate social responsibility and ethical leadership. Drawing on an interdisciplinary perspective he brings passion and enthusiasm to the belief that small actions can contribute to significant sustainable change.

Refund Policy for Seminars/Workshops:

A seminar/workshop is a course usually 5 days or less in duration and/or as otherwise identified in the calendar and online. Refunds for seminars/workshops, unless otherwise stated, must be applied for 5 full working days before the seminar start date. No refund will be issued after this deadline. For workshops beginning on a weekend (Saturday/Sunday), application for a refund must be received no later than the end of the business day on the Friday ONE WEEK before the seminar/workshop. (Example: The workshop is scheduled on September 14 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The application for a refund must be received at the College no later than 4:30 p.m. on September 6.)

Cambrian College reserves the right to cancel the offering of courses in certain terms.
